How do I confirm the R8 is mounted with no obstruction?

Just got a new BMW that has infrared and thermal blocking windshield, and after several days of testing different mounting locations for my V1 gen 1, it seems impossible to find a suitable location (I made sure it was in the dots at the top of the windshield). The V1 has a feature that flashes/beeps laser if there is an obstruction to the sensors and everywhere I mounted it was going off non stop.
