Here are two benefits from Radar detectors I wasn't expecting and aren't directly related to speed enforcement:
1. Driving across New Mexico I discovered road crews mowing or doing other basic highway maintenance would always have a K band transmitter enabled (CO). There were no "your speed" signs or LE present, so the signal was from the road crew. Very clever way to let folks know something is coming up they need to pay attention to.
